Okay, we all know The Master has always been a popular villain in the Doctor Who universe from the first time he was seen in the classic Jon Pertwee episode "The Terror of the Autons". But I have a question: Who is your favorite version(s) of The Master?

My favorite version(s) are Roger Delgado, Anthony Ainley, and Eric Roberts simply because they looked like the scariest people on Earth

Showtime renews 'Nurse Jackie,' 'United States of Tara'

One episode into the second seasons of "Nurse Jackie" and "United States of Tara," Showtime has picked up the two shows for third seasons.

As the pay-cable channel is wont to do, it announced the pickups Thursday (March 25), just three days after "Jackie" and "Tara" had their season premieres.The Big Bang Theory Seasons 1-2 DVD Boxset The two shows got off to pretty decent starts Monday night: "Nurse Jackie" drew 1.1 million viewers in its 10 p.m. debut and added 400,000 more with an encore later in the night -- an improvement of 13 percent over its premiere double-dip last year.

"Tara" was more or less in line with its premiere last year -- 816,000 for its 10:30 p.m.True Blood Seasons 1-2 DVD Boxset showing and a cumulative 1.2 million for two showings. Both shows get substantial bumps from repeat showings, DVR and on-demand use.

"Showtime is enormously proud of these two series starring two of the best actresses working today," Showtime Entertainment president Robert Greenblatt says. "Both are iconic shows for our brand and our thanks to the dedicated producers, cast, and crews who work so hard to make them so great. ... Strong women will continue to rule on this network for a long time to come."

Each show received a 12-episode order for next season, The Vampire Diaries Season 1 DVD Boxset and both will go back into production later this year for a likely 2011 premiere.

'Lost' reveals series finale title

"Lost" executive producers Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof have announced the title for the show's series finale on May 23. Spoilerphobes may want to click away, but the title doesn't really tell us anything we don't already know.

"We couldn't make a more clear statement as to the fact that we're bringing our story to a close," Cuse said in this week's "Lost" podcast.

So are you ready to read it (or, if you're not, last chance to click away)? Here goes.

The series finale will be called "The End." As we said, not much to be gleaned from that other than it's the last episode, which we already knew.

"The End" is scheduled to air Sunday, May 23.

BiSyFy Orders Comedy Script from Smallville Star

SyFy has ordered a comedy pilot script from Smallville alum Michael Rosenbaum, the network announced Friday.

Felicia Day to headline SyFy’s Red

The single-camera half-hour project follows the lives two former actors on a popular science-fiction show, played by Rosenbaum and Jonathan Silverman (Weekend at Bernie’s), who hit rock bottom and work together to get their lives back on track.

Rosenbaum is best known for his role as Lex Luthor on Smallville.

Finale will feature two big twists, a [spoiler], and (wait for it) a mustache!

You already know that Chuck’s May 24 season finale will showcase ear-splitting music. But what you may not know is that two-hour capper will also feature (warning major spoilers)…

… at least one significant death, a childhood flashback with Chuck (Zachary Levi), Ellie (Sarah Lancaster), and Pops Bartwoski (Scott Bakula), and “two big game-changing twists” that exec producer Josh Schwartz promises will top last year’s. “This finale will leave fans very satisfied,” he continues, “and yet talking about what’s to come for a knock-on-wood Season 4.”

Speaking of which, Schwartz says the episode is not intended to function as a series finale should NBC do the wrong thing and cancel the show. “Much like last year, we’re putting all of our chips on the table,” he says. “We are going to drive our fans into a frenzy.”

'Fringe: The Musical' is Coming

You thought you'd seen Fringe's weirdest, hadn't you? Well, you haven't. No, Fringe's weirdest episode yet will be coming toward the end of the season, and it's one that you would not expect. When I saw the blurb for this episode, I had to read it twice to make sure I wasn't going insane.

This episode won't be about horrible mutations or deadly viruses. It won't contain melting brains and flesh. No, it will instead contain…musical numbers?

That's right — a future episode of Fringe, titled "Overture," (to air on April 29) will be coming to the screen before the end of the year. Obviously, the show's writers have decided to take the episodic nature of the drama and have a little fun with it, creating by far the most unique stand-alone that has aired on television in a while — a musical, filled with Glee-like numbers and singing.

The episode won't just be out of left field; these songs aren't actually happening in this or any alternate reality. It'll all be happening in Walter's mind. Our favorite mad scientist apparently has quite the imagination, and this story center on him telling a bedtime story to Olivia's niece, Ella. Is this what September meant when he predicted that things "are going to get so hard for her"?

Probably not. As a matter of fact, it should be one of the most enjoyable things on television for the season. Not only will we get a look into Walter's mind and the way he views everyone around him, but we'll also get it in song — and don't expect just one or two songs.

Fringe division head Phillip Broyles (played by sometimes-jazz-crooner Lance Reddick) will play piano and sing a Traffic tune in the episode, while Massive Dynamics head Nina Sharp (Blair Brown) will serenade a private-eye Olivia Dunham (Anna Torv). “I sing a song to Olivia, which is certainly confusing,” Brown shared with TV Guide. And just when you thought it couldn't get better, Astrid (Jasika Nicole) will perform a song from A Chorus Line.

“Oh, it’s gonna be a blast,” said Reddick of the episode, which will air next month on April 29. It certainly sounds like it.

'Nip/Tuck' says a quiet goodbye

The series finale of "Nip/Tuck" is Wednesday night. If you haven't been watching FX in the past week, would you have known that?

What was once one of television's most buzzed-about shows is saying goodbye Wednesday (March 3) with little of the fanfare that's accompanying, say, the final season of "Lost," or even the end of "The Shield" on FX in November 2008. So how come?

In part, it's simply a function of age. "Nip/Tuck" has been on the air since 2003, and like most shows that have been around that long, it's lost some of its luster. Take away the sex and the surgery, and the show is essentially a family drama, and shows like that are exceedingly tough to sustain over such a long haul.

The times have also caught up with the show a little. When "Nip/Tuck" hit the air, FX was one of the only ad-supported cable channels making a serious commitment to original series. Today, TNT, USA, TBS and Lifetime are all players in the scripted series game (in addition to premium channels HBO, Showtime and Starz), and that's leaving out the dozens and dozens of unscripted shows all over cable.

So we'll just tip our hat to seven seasons of wild, weird and sometimes wonderful television from Ryan Murphy, Dylan Walsh, Julian McMahon, Joely Richardson and the rest of the "Nip/Tuck" cast and crew.

Far from the bleak action-heavy Battlestar prequel most might have expected, Caprica is blazing its own path. Essentially a domestic drama with intergalactic scope, the show focuses on two families who have a crucial role to play in the Cylon uprising and the destruction of the 12 colonies - The Graystones and the Adamas. After a terrorist explosion claims the daughters of both families, industrialist Daniel Graystone pushes his Cylon technology to a level where he can bring his daughter back from the dead, but at what cost to the future of humanity?

Twitter sensation Shit My Dad Says is becoming a TV pilot with William Shatner set to play the larger-than-life dad at the center of it.

The casting of Shatner lifts the contingency on CBS' multicamera family comedy project based on the Twitter account, which has enlisted more than 1.16 million followers since launching in August and has made its creator, Justin Halpern, an Internet star.

The pilot, executive produced by "Will & Grace" creators David Kohan and Max Mutchnick, was originally set up at CBS with a script commitment in November. Now, with Shatner on board, it has been greenlighted to pilot.

Halpern co-penned the script with Patrick Schumacker. Halpern and Schumacker co-exec produce the Warner Bros. TV-produced project whose title is expected to change if it goes to series.

Halpern, 29, had moved back in with his parents in San Diego, and on Aug. 3 he launched Shit My Dad Says, a Twitter feed featuring colorful -- often profane -- comments made by his 73-year-old father during their daily conversations.

Shatner was an early favorite for the role because of his comedic acting chops as well as his successful spoken word renditions that fit the style of the Shit My Dad Says zingers. Last year, he did spoken word interpretations of Sarah Palin's farewell address and her best-selling book on "The Tonight Show With Conan O'Brien."

Shatner most recently starred on ABC's legal dramedy "Boston Legal," winning an Emmy for playing another larger-than-life character, self-proclaimed legendary litigator Denny Crane.

He also won an Emmy for playing the character in a guest tint to "Boston legal predecessor the practice.

For 2 minutes & 17 seconds, everyone on earth blacked out. Planes dropped out of the sky,
cars crashed, people died.
It's only up to episode 3 I watched on ABC so there is still plenty of time to catch up.
I'm loving it so much.
