http://ca.lifestyle.yahoo.com/fashion-beau...mark-2009-03-25

Is it me or is the media completely obsessed with Jennifer Aniston for no real reason? It is a constant "pity party" for her? Oh poor Jen can't get a man.

Now we hear this "moaning" about how she will never marry again. Come on! Lets face it this idiot has been dating "high profile guys" who are NOT going to give up their ability to get women for this 40 year old cougar. Why would John Mayer who is 31 years old and on top of the world want to marry her? Brad wanted a family. She didn't. They broke up over it. Done. It was reported years ago that he wanted to start a family and she didn't. The proof of this is the constant "mentioning of her desire" to be a parent. I am sorry but she is 40 years old. The risk of Downs Syndrome has greatly increased. Not to mention that she would be trying to get pregnant for the first time in her "40's". Her fucundability drops like a stone after 35.

Note:
Fucundability
Peak is ability to achieve pregnancy in one menstrual cycle
By age 35 there is a big drop
By early 40s the chance of conception is smaller
Spontaneous abortion increases as a woman ages

Jen didn't want a family. It was her choice. But enough already. I do wish this "pity party" for "poor old Jen" would finally subside.

When will the next of "new faces" hit Hollywood so we can forgot about the current ones who have out lived their moments.

It is the internets fault!

Skiewed and Reviewed posted a new interview with Babylon 5 creator and producer J. Michael Straczynzki, in which he revealed that he has had to terminate his script for the proposed Forbidden Planet trilogy movie remake/prequel due to elements of it being leaked on the internet. Here are few excerpts of the article.

"Because so much of the Forbidden Planet screenplay was leaked out, Warners and I have decided to chuck the screenplay in its entirety and start over." he told the website "This is the direct result of the leaks that showed up on the nets, including detailed script reviews of a project that was barely a week old, and which would effectively destroy any anticipation of the movie because by the time it finally reached the screen in 2010 or thereabouts, the story would be old news. So we're starting fresh, and we're going to keep a tight lid on the script this time."

"So to the sites that say, "Where's the harm, it's not like they're gonna toss out the script because we blew the contents of same all over the nets," well, yes, that's exactly what it's like, and it's precisely your responsibility that a year's worth of work was destroyed. So we start anew, with the determined hope that the next draft will be even better, and far more secure, than the last one."

My response...tough!

Did it ever occur to the overrated JMS that maybe his idea just plain "sucked" and that the studio realized that after some of the responses not to back such a stupid idea?

I don't recall seeing much about this idea in the first place so maybe if JMS instead of whining like a big maybe call out a few websites that ruined your precise "year of work".

Of course if it was like his work on Amazing Spiderman....then you can file it already as crap.

Florida forclosures disaster

Just five years ago, Port St. Lucie was America's fastest-growing large city. Then the foreclosure crisis slammed it like a hurricane.

Today it sits in one of the hardest-hit counties in the nation. Thousands of houses are empty or unfinished. Neighborhoods are littered with for-sale and foreclosure signs and overgrown, neglected yards. Break-ins are on the rise.

But one politician believes he has a unique solution: Declare St. Lucie County a disaster area as if it had been hit by, well, a hurricane.

"This is a manmade disaster," County Commissioner Doug Coward acknowledged. But he said that is why "we've got to do something. Clearly, the economic crisis of the country far exceeds the ability of local governments to solve it, but we're trying be a part of the solution."

well is it time to Declare a Depression?

A Depression doesn't have to be Great — bread lines, rampant unemployment, a wipeout in the stock market. The economy can sink into a milder depression, the kind spelled with a lowercase "d."

And it may be happening now.

The trouble is, unlike recessions, which are easy to define, there are no firm rules for what makes a depression. Everyone at least seems to agree there hasn't been one since the epic hardship of the 1930s.
DeMint, a fierce opponent of government expansion, told the CPAC crowd that conservatives might have to “take to the streets to stop America’s slide into socialism.”

His remarks comes a day after Mike Huckabee told the conference of conservative activists that “the Union of American Socialist Republics is being born” with the president’s stimulus package.

“Lenin and Stalin would love this stuff,” Huckabee said of the government bailing out financial institutions.

U.S. to yield marijuana jurisdiction to states

Quote

(02-26) 20:00 PST San Francisco -- U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder is sending strong signals that President Obama - who as a candidate said states should be allowed to make their own rules on medical marijuana - will end raids on pot dispensaries in California.

Asked at a Washington news conference Wednesday about Drug Enforcement Administration raids in California since Obama took office last month, Holder said the administration has changed its policy.

"What the president said during the campaign, you'll be surprised to know, will be consistent with what we'll be doing here in law enforcement," he said. "What he said during the campaign is now American policy."

Bill Piper, national affairs director of the Drug Policy Alliance, a marijuana advocacy group, said the statement is encouraging.

"I think it definitely signals that Obama is moving in a new direction, that it means what he said on the campaign trail that marijuana should be treated as a health issue rather than a criminal justice issue," he said.

"The president believes that federal resources should not be used to circumvent state laws" and expects his appointees to follow that policy, Schapiro said.

The federal government has fought state medicinal pot laws since Californians voted in 1996 to repeal criminal penalties for medical use of marijuana.

Quote

GORDON BROWN hopes to forge a partnership with President Barack Obama in Washington this week, to call for a “global new deal” to lift the world out of recession.
As he prepares for his first White House visit since the president’s inauguration, the prime minister has hinted that he is ready to make further tax cuts to boost the UK economy.

Brown will meet Obama on Tuesday and address a joint session of Congress on Wednesday. Aides say he has both to demonstrate to a sceptical British public that he commands the respect of the president, and to persuade the American political establishment that global action is needed to rescue the US economy.

Belief in market gloom can be self-fulfilling prophecy

Quote

February 28, 2009 at 6:00 AM EST

The bad news bears have just wrapped up another stellar week full of worst-in-decades economic stats, dividend cuts and confidence indicators, topped yesterday by the latest revised U.S. figures.

It turns out that the U.S. economy actually shrank in the fourth quarter at a stunning 6.2-per-cent annual clip. It was the worst such nosedive since the grim early months of 1982 and only the fifth time a negative quarterly number has exceeded 6 per cent since the green eye-shade brigade began keeping track of such things more than 60 years ago.

It was all too much for one U.S. economist, who gloomily declared: “Economic developments in recent months have been consistently worse than the worst-case scenarios.”

All this is fuel for the professional purveyors of doom and the opportunistic politicians who, to paraphrase an aide to U.S. President Barack Obama, consider a crisis of any kind a terrible thing to waste. Mr. Obama actually declared in his best preacher's tone this week that the “day of reckoning has arrived,” before unveiling a $3.6-trillion (U.S.) budget that made his free-spending predecessor look like a paragon of prudence.

The Pink Panther is now dead.

http://www.scifiupdates.com/community/inde...w_post&f=35

Lets face it. When something is done with a touch of "originality" it is hard to beat. Peter Sellers was and will always be known for his role as "Inspector Clouseau ".

For some strange reason having the incredibly UNFUNNY Steve (I can't believe I have a career) Martin was chosen to do another PP movie. The movie cost $80 million to make. Why that is, is beyond me. What is surprising is that the stupid film made $158 million world wide. The clips I saw of the movie were nothing short than Martin trying to be like Peter Sellers. Pretty sad if you ask me. Now a few years later PP#2 is made and only makes $45 million. So much for the pseudo brilliance of Martin. It is blasted by everyone for being just plain "crap". I am going to assume that the "curiosity factor" played a big role in the success of the first movie.

As it stands, there will be no PP#3. The franchise is dead. Some stories DO have an ending. With time these Martin movies will be forgotten like BSG 1980.

So Peter Sellers can stop spinning in his grave.

Why is this posted here? My point is that not everything done in Hollywood can be turned into a franchise (a term I really hate). It is better to go out on top instead of fizzling out like a bad fart. But of course there are those that don't care and waste their time and money on something they know will be complete crap. Being a fan doesn't mean you lose your common sense.

Credit card companies feeling the pain..boo hoo

http://finance.yahoo.com/banking-budgeting...ake-You-Go-Away

Normally I wouldn't feel the least bit sorry for them. Well, I still don't. In today's economy you have to have at least 1 credit card for various purchases or reservations (ie hotel rooms, plane tickets, etc).

These companies gave out credit to people with the hopes of them hanging themselves. Bleed them dry month after month. There is a name for this it is called "loan sharks" They even lobbied (and won) to have laws changed so that they are except from a person who is filling for bankruptcy in order to still get their money. You don't give out credit cards with almost unlimited or high limits to people who can't afford them. So this little "bleed them dry" has now bit them in the ass.

boo hoo boo hoo..

By the way, I still don't give a free pass to people who spent more because of the "want" vs the "need" is an excuse.
