Posted ImageFor awhile now Sony's PS3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360 have both let Netflix subscribers download and watch movies through their consoles. Now Nintendo Wii, which is the most popular gaming console, has decided to get with the program and offer that service as well.

The main reason for this deal comes primarily out of fear that people will stop buying the high priced pre-packaged video games in the future, thus causing companies to broaden their appeal to folks by positioning themselves as a bridge between the television and a wider world of online multimedia.

A PS3 comes with a Blu-ray player, and both the PS3 and Xbox 360 have their own movie stores, which offers the option of watching new films instantly, most in high definition. For now the Wii offers very little in comparison until Nintendo releases a new HD version of the console, so for now Netflix users will not be able to watch the films in high definition. So now it's just a mater of time to see which company will end up with the best gaming system that offers more than just gaming.
